High Speed Technology Platform

Apitope’s therapeutic approach is based on well-established scientific evidence showing that soluble, synthetic peptides can reinstate normal and/or attenuate abnormal immune responses through the induction of a naturally occurring population of IL-10 secreting lymphoctyes.

Several investigators in the USA and Europe, and most notably Professor David Wraith, Apitope’s Chief Scientific Officer, have shown that soluble peptides, including those in ATX-MS-1467, can be used to prevent and treat pre-clinical models of hypersensitivity diseases such as MS, Type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and allergies.

This highly selective immune re-balancing process has been shown to be linked to the induction of IL-10 secreting regulatory T cells by Apitope scientists.

Importantly, Apitope has also shown that not all peptides are successful vaccines. To be effective, peptides must be specifically designed to behave as Apitopes™ - Antigen Processing Independent epiTOPES (Apitopes™) in order to be useful therapeutic vaccines.

Apitope’s patented, leading edge, high speed discovery platform enables it to identify and design these peptide-based vaccines and diagnostics.

The figure below illustrates the powerful effect of the Apitopes™ approach in a pre-clinical relapsing-remitting disease model of MS to almost completely abolish relapses.
